Vickie is now 16 weeks old, only a week away from 4 months. A lot has happened over the last week or so.
I officially killed our television set. I decided to repot a plant that I kept on top of the set and over watered it. Needless to say we were ready for a replacement after that. We finally bit the bullet and got ourselves a 40" flatscreen and it is hard to keep Vickie's eyes from being drawn to it. Here she is sneaking a peak at a Stargate episode while thinking she was passed out in my arms. Yup, she's apparently into sci-fi too.
I have been following an online forum for April 2011 Mommies and I had heard about these Wubbanubs for months. They were apparently designed for premature babies in the hospital and help keep the pacifier from falling out of the baby's mouth. They are kind of like beenie babies as there are so many to choose from. I finally found one online and Vickie absolutely adores it! I'm already looking for a second/backup wubbanub, perhaps a giraffe.
Ta da!!! Vickie is not only taking a bottle, she's now taking one from me. Talk about a little bit of freedom now. I have had to start supplementing a little formula into her day. With 2 15 minute breaks and a 1/2 hour lunch at work, I am only able to pump about half of what she eats during the 8 hours I'm gone. It's a little disappointing not being able to exclusively breast feed, but she is one hungry little girl. The best thing about all of this is that Dan is willing to help out with the early morning wake up/feeds. I have no problem getting up with her at 3-4am, but the 6am is a killer and Dan is always awake anyways. Here's to an extra hour of sleep every morning!!!
This last Sunday we decided to have a girls all you can eat lunch at the Olive Garden. This is where that bottle came in really handy! When Vickie started to get a little fussy (of course right when our food showed up) I was able to ask the waitress for a little warm water and made up a bottle for her right there. She sucked that thing down and was ready for a nice long nap during the ride home. It had been exactly 16 weeks since we last had this lunch together....I went into labor that night :)All in all, Vickie is doing great! Dan even watched her after work yesterday so I could have myself a much needed break/night out with the girls. It's nice to know that she is able to be a little more independent of her mother and that Dad can now step in and help out more often. She is also rolling onto her sides and has discovered her feet in the last week or so......time flies!
